you should have it so you can be alerted when say oil prices on the market are below a certain amount that you set and then this is emailed to you or jsut comes up in your messages
since often it is annoying not knowing when prices of things have fallen or risen
however i do think you may have to implement the messages to every 12 WU maybe or you just have loads of messages to delete... who knows
